Introduction

The 'Auld Haa' is a 2 bedroom house (1 double and 1 twin) with an extended ground floor to provide, Lounge (snug),  Hall,  Utility,  Kitchen/Dining,  Bathroom,  Study and a View/Day Room. On-site parking. Wi-Fi.

Central heating is installed (except to the view/day room) and the house is well insulated. The View/Day room has an electric heater for background heating.  It is unlikely you will need to turn this up unless you are unlucky with the weather.  The French doors and windows allow good ventilation. A roof window is installed to keep a view of the north sky (In case the aurora borealis is active in the winter!)

From the View/Day room you will see Gannets feeding with their spectacular dive and if you are lucky you may see otters.

General

The house should be more than sufficienty equiped to help make your stay very pleasant and we hope you will come again.  (We think you will).
The View/Day Room makes the place, not only for the view but the weather is something that is then less critical. In fact you will enjoy watching the weather from the shelter of the View/Day Room.  The bathroom is on the ground floor.Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the house and we have to say no to any pets. Provisions can be acquired at the shop in Ulsta. There is also a very good general store which seems to have everything at Aywick. LJ's is a family run cafe/restaurant in Mid Yell. For something a bit different you can catch the ferry to Mainland Shetland for a meal at say Busta House in Muckle Roe (a scenic drive past Sullom Voe) and then take a late ferry back.  (The last ferry needs to be booked to make sure it runs).
